We are truly a unique and dynamic organization that seeks to meet the needs of today’s professional: if you have a strong track record of performance and prefer the flexibility of working independently from a home office, you can do so without sacrificing the opportunity to partner with great people and work with cutting edge technologies! Our software development team is responsible for creating, enhancing and supporting applications which Paylocity utilizes for our operations and our clients use to better manage their payroll, HR, time clock and data integration needs. The software development department is an established group with over 30 very talented individuals who are here for the long-term and are constantly thinking about growing and improving our processes. Our development department is responsible for the development of two products, Web Pay, our web-based payroll and HR software and Web Time, our web-based time attendance software.

Our expectations: Our developers are often responsible for the development of an entire feature which means they will work with all of the tiers from the data access layer to the user interface. Exposure to working with highly complex and financial development projects is a big plus.  We expect dedication and hard work.

Our environment: We have a separate QA group (ratio of 1 QA to every 2 developers), software maintenance group, automated testing, and product manager teams.  All of these teams are super dedicated folks who interact with our internal clients and help determine the business requirements and design for our applications.

The team: We are very aggressive in adopting the latest and greatest technology.  Consequently, Paylocity is an active Microsoft Gold Certified ISV Partner that frequently works directly with Microsoft in their Technology Adoption Programs, Early Adopter Program and going to their labs to test pre-release versions of their software in their Application Compatibility Testing programs.  Microsoft has also used Paylocity in a couple of case studies on how we leverage their technologies, the most recent which is available at http://www.microsoft.com/casestudies/Case_Study_Detail.aspx?CaseStudyID=4000009565 and http://www.microsoft.com/casestudies/Case_Study_Detail.aspx?CaseStudyID=710000001369

Paylocity is still relatively young as we are celebrating our 15th year in business.  Our developers like what they do and the cool technology they get to work with – the average tenure on the team is about 4.5 years with very little turnover - we do a good job of keeping the team happy and engaged!  We have a very strong, talented group of developers that is very interested in the exchange of ideas and technical solutions, so we try and make sure that the developers get an opportunity to be the lead for a feature involving multiple developers so they can share their experiences (as well as learn from others in a lead role).

Our developers work from home 2 days a week in a casual, collaborative environment.  Not located in Chicago?  We have telecommute opportunities as well as relocation assistance provided!
