We are currently seeking an Asset Owner Index Sales Senior Associate to join our Client Coverage Organization based in Beijing, China.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
We are looking for a highly service oriented, skilled, and motivated individual to participate in our sales initiative focused on MSCI Index products to institutional clients (“Asset Owners”) in Asia ex-Japan. The position reports to the Executive Director managing the Asset Owners Consultants segment for Asia ex-Japan, and will be based in Beijing, China.
This role will work closely with the Executive Director in maintaining existing client relationships as well as new business development. The person will travel within his/her respective sales territory to promote MSCI products and services and assist clients in such context in the clients' investment process.
The role entails converting Asset Owners to MSCI-based benchmarks as well as positioning and closing sales of MSCI standard and index custom subscription data to existing as well as prospective clients. As such, the position is expected to have deep knowledge of entities and individuals within the Asset Owner and Consultant communities in the region.
This role is part of a highly visible business segment and involves working in a high pressure and fast-moving environment. In addition to assisting the Executive Director in managing senior level relationships, the role is expected to build strong working relationships, both internally and externally, in order to achieve benchmark conversions, drive sales, and meet sales targets. Key to this role is the purposeful creation and timely execution of sales pipeline and an ability to present investment related themes and research in an effective manner. In this role, individuals will work very closely with global Client Service, product Research and development, Legal, Product Management, and Finance / billing departments.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as an effective support and partner to the Executive Director and be a trusted relationship manager for Asset Owner and Consultant clients. Strengthen MSCI sales coverage team by providing solutions to clients’ needs.
- Creation and timely execution of pipeline; both benchmark conversion and other index sales
- Achieve targeted sales goals in a high pressure sales environment
- Answer detailed client inquiries and conduct trainings / seminars on MSCI index products and methodologies for clients
- Strategic Planning for respective client accounts
- Targeted sales campaign
- Work with other departments (Client service, Legal, Contracts, Billing, etc) to ensure that all client requests / inquiries and matters related to each client account are managed appropriately and promptly
- Maintain accurate records regarding account visits, client conversations, finalized contracts, etc Proactively solicit client feedback regarding new initiatives and future product development
- Provide feedback from clients to Marketing, Sales, Research and Product Development groups
- Frequent travel to client sites
DESIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- A highly team-oriented, motivated, client and service oriented and detail-oriented individual
- Good understanding of the Asset Owner and Investment Consultant Processes with experience of equity index products, experience dealing with major international Asset Owners and other client types (e.g. Asset Managers, Hedge Funds, Broker / Dealers, and Investment Consultants) are considered a plus
- Superior communication and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong sales closing skills and track record of delivering to high sales targets
- Strong understanding of the global equity and other investment markets
- Thorough understanding of the Investment Management Process
- 6 years or more of work experience preferably mostly in the financial services industry is desirable
- Someone who enjoys intellectual and analytical challenges
- Bachelor’s Degree Required; MBA, Masters Degree and/or CFA charter holder is considered a plus
- Must be fluent in written and spoken English and Chinese. Fluency in Mandarin is very highly preferred.
