Assistant Controller- Construction Industry

Location: Taunton, MA

Well-established commercial construction company is seeking an Assistant Controller.

In addition to the responsibilities listed below, this person must have a commercial construction background and know how sub-contracts and purchase orders are handled in the industry.

 

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

·         Direct Management Responsibility for general/accounting staff.

·         Coordinate and prepare month-end closing routines and financial reporting.

·         Oversee accounts payable processing and verify accuracy/validity of outgoing payments.

·         Maintain fixed asset schedules.

·         Prepare work papers for independent auditors.

·         Reconcile daily cash balances.

·         Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts.

·         Review/approve journal entries and general ledger postings.

·         Identify and communicate areas of concern/opportunities to CEO and controller

·         Prepare certified payrolls.

 

Qualifications:

·         Must possess at least an associate’s degree in Accounting

·         Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost accounting principles.

·         Knowledge of accounting reporting systems

·         Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations, including lien law in MA, RI, CT.

·         Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.

·         Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
