Assistant Manager
This finance Manager's job in Edinburgh with a rapidly expanding, "brand led" business offers an outstanding opportunity for a part-qualified, finalist or newly qualified accountant to join the team and develop your career with one of Scotland's most sought after companies. The Finance Manager will have the responsibility to provide a full range of month end financial control activities for one or more products or services. This includes running accounting models, raising accruals, reviewing actuals against forecasts, preparing reporting information with full reconciliation and substantiation of related balance sheet positions.
A key component of the Finance Manager's job will be to oversee and develop month end accounting including –
• Month end review of journals and underlying workings prepared by an Accounting Technician
• Regular review and challenge of underlying models used to calculate postings to ledger
• Liaison with external audit
• Supporting end customers including Decision Support, Reporting and business areas. Regular engagement and ad hoc support required.
As Finance Manager, you will be expected to develop, review implement any process improvements. As a result of a change in General Ledger and related source systems all processes will need to be reviewed and adapted. This will vary from minor changes such as revised end journal to potentially, complete re-design of a process. The post holder will be responsible for organising and implementing the processes under their control.
In order to be successful in this post, it is anticipated that you will be part-qualified (actively studying towards fully qualification), or a recently qualified accountant looking for a fresh challenge. Preference will be shown to individuals who have experience of supervising/mentoring staff, and of course, you should have experience of a month end accounting role within a Finance Operations, Financial Control or similar environment.
