Assistant Professor

The University of Pittsburgh (PITT), Department of Health Information Management (HIM) invites applications for two faculty positions to expand our research and educational activities in health information management and health informatics. The positions are at the level of Assistant Professor, outside the tenure stream (with the possibility of moving to tenure) depending on the candidatesrsquo; qualifications and performance. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. Successful candidates must show high promise for research leadership and have strong commitment to high quality education. We are particularly interested in candidates with involvement in funded research and with potential for achievement in competing for peer-reviewed awards. We are interested in applicants with research and teaching backgrounds in all areas of health information management and health informatics, and who are seeking to develop multi-disciplinary collaborations with colleagues in the health science disciplines. Examples of collaboration may include, but not limited to, translational research (bioinformatics, data analytics, quality and cost of health care, the EHR, classification systems and clinical outcomes), rehabilitation informatics (quality of life technologies, computer access, telerehabilitation), and the like. The University of Pittsburgh is one of the most collegial institutions with unlimited potential for collaborations. Responsibilities of the position include research, teaching, advising, and the supervision of graduate student research (PhD and MS). A PhD degree in relevant disciplines (health informatics, information science, management of information systems, computer science) is required. An RHIA credential is preferred for one of the positions. HIM at PITT is one of the leading research and academic programs nationally and internationally, and is part of the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences.
