We have an exciting opportunity for a Merchandising Manager/Assistant Store Manager. As a member of the management team, this position plays a critical role in achieving the store's budgeted sales goals and payroll hours. Responsibilities include: Supervision and development of store personnel with regards to management of the store's appearance and in-stock position through oversight and implementation of merchandise receipt, inventory controls, back-stock maintenance and visual presentation standards Participate in making decisions on store inventory and the preparation and release of purchasing orders Management of associates, which includes: review job applications and interview job applicants; hire, train and develop associates; plan work assignments; prioritize and assign store tasks to be completed; determine techniques to be used to accomplish tasks; ensure satisfactory completion of assigned work Ensure proper health care, appearance and maintenance of companion animals Ensure quick and courteous service to all PETCO customers by helping associates determine the customer's needs and share product knowledge with associates to enable them to suggest appropriate merchandise to meet customer needs Assist in the coordination and completion of all periodic physical inventory counts Supervise product delivery, unloading, stocking and checking quality of merchandise and livestock Verify, review, and approve invoices Monitor and investigate inventory discrepancies Responsible for visual presentation of merchandise, including store layout and displays Ensure store adherence to loss prevention procedures and supply ordering Education and Experience: A high school diploma or its equivalent (GED) preferred. Must demonstrate advanced mathematics proficiency. Must have exceptional communication skills, strong organizational skills, and have a flexible work schedule on a daily basis to include weekends and weeknights. Previous retail management experience is preferred for this position. Must have ability to instruct others regarding basic sales techniques. Must present a professional appearance and demeanor.
