We are currently looking for an Associate Creative Director based in San Diego. To lead a team of creative resources to create unique and effective concepts and art direct/layout for monthly ad sets and circulars. Execute in a manner which is well-organized, engaging, and yields persuasive compositions and communications for brand marketing initiatives and merchant product and services features. Position Purpose: Oversee and manage internal resources (graphic designers, writers, art directors) and external resources (photographers, retouchers, pre-press and printers) which are necessary to meet the monthly and quarterly Ad Set project needs. Ensure that all creative concepts/initiatives adhere to, and enhance, the established PETCO brand voice and guidelines. Ensure that the creative concepts/initiatives adhere to and enhance the monthly brand style guides. Contribute to the ceative and strategic guidance of the external digital agencies and reviewing their work for brand standards and consistencies Organizationally, this position's overall responsibilities are at the ad set campaign and (SBU) strategic business unit level. This Associate Creative Director must partner strategically with the CMO Merchant teams, respective marketing team counterparts, and the advertising team, and the ecomm teams. This position operates independently, with little or no project supervision, which enables it to maintain a high level of strategic and conceptual discussion with the VP Brand Creative and other creative team leaders, about the execution of the creative initiatives/concepts, which should always be consistent with current brand guidelines and monthly campaign guidelines. Work closely with client teams, as well as third parties when necessary, to help support and expand standards and drive results for different areas of assigned business to support but not limited to: The Petco brand, The Unleashed by Petco Brand, The Pooch Hotels Brand, Planet Petco, Petco Certified Nutrition, The Petco Foundation, Think Adoption First, and seasonal campaigns (as well as additional branding or campaign projects to be determined) Education/Experience: Normally requires a bachelor's degree (B.A./B.F.A.) or equivalent, preferably in Graphic Design or Marketing and Advertising Design. Must possess a minimum of five years progressive and directly related experience in Advertising or Design working in-house at corporate retail client, or an advertising or promotional agency with consumer packaged goods experience, pet experience, and or other retail experience. Ideal experience should include project management and team leadership responsibilities in a retail and circular oriented environment managing a high volume or work in a fast paced environment. An equivalent amount of related experience and education may be substituted for a degree. This position requires a mastery of all MAC programs and an advanced ability to generate and execute creative and artistic concepts and designs for categories and projects. Strong oral and written communication skills required. The ability to articulate an idea and present critical and conceptual thinking to a client team is important as this role may, without notice, be assigned to substitute for the ACD or VP Brand Creative.
