ASSOCIATE
The Public Markets Funds (“PMF”) group seeks a highly motivated junior professional to provide analytical, research, and investment process support to the PMF team. The Associate will be a key part of the investment team that oversees Harvard’s externally managed funds across the following asset classes: domestic equity (hedge fund and long only), global equity (EAFE and EM), high yield and commodities. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated record of academic achievement, success working in a team environment, and a strong willingness to learn to be a long-term institutional investor
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide analytic support to the Portfolio Managers
- Track existing portfolio investments, managers, and markets
- Support any new manager diligence
- Work within team structure to support external management’s IT, Operations, and Legal teams
- Maintain internal and external manager databases.
- Support team preparation of performance, liquidity, and other reports for weekly PMF meetings

- Contribute to existing and potential manager diligence
- Proactively track news on managers and markets
- Conduct analytics and ad hoc studies on existing and potential investments
- Provide analytical support to the PMF team in the form of spreadsheet analysis and presentations as needed
- Contribute to project work as it relates to the team’s use of systems and data as needed
- Operate as an integral member of the Public Markets Team
- Develop investment skills and positively contribute to the investment success and excess return of the Endowment.
- Manage responsibilities pertaining to business continuity preparedness, documentation, Disaster Recovery site visits, etc
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BS in Finance or related field
- Two+ years of relevant analytical work experience
- Strong quantitative skills
- Excellent MS Excel skills
- Interpersonal skills to successfully interact with other groups within and outside HMC
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks with accuracy and attention to detail
- Unquestionable ethical standards
