ASSOCIATE
The Associate will be responsible for supporting senior staff in the identification, screening, negotiation and financing of utility scale renewable energy power generation projects, in select markets throughout the world. The Associate will lead the creation and management of project financial models and market analyses, and provide transaction support throughout the deal cycle.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Support senior team members on a variety of tasks related to project origination, evaluation, execution and financing
- Create and manage detailed financial models for project opportunities, to include risk and sensitivity analyses, incorporating various financing and ownership structures as directed by senior staff
- Create and maintain an accurate and consistent schedule of assumptions for each financial model, performing the underlying research, and interacting with internal and external sources, to compile and substantiate data
- Assist with due diligence activities in relation to project investment opportunities
- Oversee and organize the management of electronic data related to project origination and financing and prepare and manage electronic data rooms
- Undertake market research and analysis to identify potential new business opportunities
- Maintain deal pipeline lists and undertake other tasks as directed by senior staff.
Qualifications and Experience
- 1-3 years relevant work experience (ideally in renewable energy corporate/project finance)
- An undergraduate degree in business or economics, or ability to demonstrate similar experience, and an MBA, CFA or finance related post-graduate qualification
- Experience of project level due diligence and valuation, and exposure to negotiation of project and MA related agreements such as NDAs, terms sheets and PPAs
- International energy industry exposure and understanding of the market dynamics and key drivers
- Familiarity with US renewable energy incentives, and in particular Federal tax equity structures and modeling, a plus
- Fluency in Spanish and/or Arabic a plus
Technical/Commercial Knowledge/Skills
- Highly numerate with good knowledge of project financing principles, financial markets, and economic, tax, and accounting concepts
- Commercially astute with proven quantitative and qualitative analysis skills
- Exceptional Excel financial modeling skills and advanced PowerPoint and Word capabilities
- Superior verbal and written communication skills
- Confident and outgoing personality
- Self-motivated possessing a strong work ethic with an ability to manage multiple tasks/projects in a fast-paced, deadline oriented environment
- Legally entitled to live and work in Canada
