Associate Analyst, Contractors & Mining Services Sector
The successful candidate will have experience in the securities industry or related sector, possess strong financial modelling skills, demonstrate an ability to undertake company specific, market and industry analysis, possess strong oral and written communication skills, and be ambitious to succeed within a leading international investment dealer. The successful candidate will work in a small, experienced and highly motivated Melbourne-based team, reporting to the lead sector Research Analyst.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Effort will be focused on the following deliverables:
- Develop an expertise in Contractors, Mining Services and general Industrial companies
- Assist in the development of detailed financial models
- Help maintain and develop sector specific databases.
- Provide research support to the lead analyst as required
- Participate in and assist with morning comments
- Assist and generate research reports and presentations
- Help coordinate half year and year-end reporting initiatives
- Assist with special ad-hoc projects, presentations and initiatives as assigned
- Support and answer client queries as they relate to the sector
KEY COMPETENCIES
- MBA, CA, CFA (or progress towards CFA), or undergraduate degree with a focus on Business, Finance, Mathematics or other quantitative fields
- Superior customer service focus for internal and external clients
- Strong work ethic (self-starter), commitment to task and an attention to detail
- Superior financial modelling skills and demonstrated skills in valuation analysis, with a minimum of 2 years’ experience
- Professional business writing, communication and presentation skills are a must.
- Ability to prioritise work, multi-task responsibilities; perform under pressure and meet time-sensitive deadlines, sometimes for extended periods of time
- Good inter-personal skills and the ability to work and coordinate effectively within a team environment
- Good understanding of financial/stock market also an asset
- Ability to evaluate financial statements, with an emphasis on high knowledge of: accounting standards, debt instruments, percentage complete accounting methodology and working capital/cashflow analysis
- Advanced Excel and MS Office applications and ability to source data from the internet and various industry publications
