We are looking for an Associate Director to join our Financial Institutions team (Asia and MENA banks), based in Canary Wharf.
 
 
Main Function of the Job
The main purpose of the Associate Director role is to identify and drive business development, primarily with new and existing clients across one or more Key Account portfolios, whilst also assisting the Relationship Director with product knowledge, research, client relationship development, risk management and looking into solutions to meet client needs.
 
You'll also manage the co-ordination of evaluation and execution of large structured transactions, under the supervision of, or assisting a more senior manager.  The value of these transactions will typically be between £5m and £1bn.
 
You will also assist the Relationship Director with business development activities, business planning, client acquisition and strategy, business research, marketing, advertising sponsorship campaigns, production of Management Information (MI), pricing and covenant structures
 
 
Main Duties and Responsibilities
 
A large part of the role will focus on Relationship Management planning and you will support the Relationship Director by:
 
·         Assisting with the creation and co-ordination of annual Client Relationship plans for all clients, including input from product specialists and Credit Risk teams. This will ensure a consistent and co-ordinated marketing approach from across the Barclays Group to the portfolio
·         Reviewing the Relationship Plans to create a recommended action plan for each quarter, relating primarily to the Operational Product Set and focus on increasing wallet share
·         Assist in the communication and implementation of any actions to improve service in respect of complaints/compliments receive
 
Other aspects of the Associate Director role will include Deal Origination and Business Development, where you will research new and current markets to identify target names and prepare pitch documents, supporting with delivering presentations. You will also determine products that meet client needs and be able to sell, at short notice, on a proactive and reactive basis.
 
You role as Associate Director will also require you to attend meetings with clients, investment banks and professional advisors and you will work with our Corporate Credit Managers, to manage the evaluation and execution of large, structured transactions.

Person Requirements
 
We are looking for an experienced client facing relationship manager with Financial Institutions experience.
 
Essential Skills required:
 
·         Client / Customer Service focus and attention to detail
·         General banking skills including the ability to discuss strategic financial advice and in-depth industry knowledge
·         Credit Risk understanding and Product knowledge
·         Analytical, negotiation and presentation skills
·         Communication skills, both oral written
·         Good grasp of IT skills including word, excel, access, power point
·         Awareness of legislation affecting the Bank and clients (including Data Protection Act, Companies Act, Insolvency Act, Financial Services Act) and have the highest regard for confidentiality
·         Experience of winning new business, being proactive
 
An understanding of Mandarin is not essential but would be desirable.
