Scotiabank, through our Global Banking and Markets division, provides corporate and investment banking and capital markets products and services to corporate, institutional and government clients around the globe. We have over 30 offices globally and more than 300 relationship managers organized around industry specialties. Our global operations are divided into two primary business units: Global Corporate and Investment Banking and Global Capital Markets.

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

Global Banking and Markets has enhanced the client onboarding experience with the creation of the Global Capital Markets Banking team.
This multidisciplinary group is focused on improving the end-to-end onboarding timeframe and creating a positive experience for capital markets clients.

Currently the group of 50 employees is evenly split into two essential areas: the Credit/Execution teams, with responsibility for liaising with sales teams, client due diligence, credit writing, monitoring, derivatives execution
and credit risk mitigation; and the Documentation team (located in Toronto, New York and Mexico), with global responsibility for negotiating the various types of documents required for swaps, repos and securities lending across GCM's businesses, as well as cash onboarding of clients in
Canada.

POSITION SUMMARY:

This role is part of the Credit/Execution team. Reporting to the Director within Global Capital Markets Banking, the incumbent will be responsible for credit analysis of counterparties that trade capital markets products. This includes evaluation and monitoring of trading relationships within the division, and the associated writing of credit presentations for adjudication. Counterparties are predominantly broker dealers, hedge funds and other financial institutions.

The incumbent will have the opportunity to interact with multiple internal departments within Global Banking and Markets. In addition, the position involves conducting due diligence on external counterparties.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

. Counterparty analysis and risk assessment through: financial evaluation, review of industry, and
consideration of counterparty specific factors.
. Ongoing monitoring and tracking of credit quality for an assigned portfolio.
. Analysis of risks and completion of credit presentations for new and existing counterparties.
. Some review of documentation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

. MBA, CA and/or CFA
. 3-5 years relevant experience
. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
. Familiarity with finance and trading concepts.
. Very strong computer skills
. Excellent organization skills.
. Familiarity with the Bank's credit adjudication process would be an asset.
