Department overview

Markit Equities is a critical data service combining an accurate source of equity index and ETF composition data from worldwide providers with global dividend and ex-date forecasts and has recently added the rapidly expanding Bespoke Index Management to the core products. The equity reference data team currently works from Singapore and London, with plans to expand to New York. It provides reference data and corporate actions information to various product groups within Markit Equities.

Position summary

The successful candidate will be working as part of the Equity Reference Data team, which is responsible for providing Reference and Corporate Actions data to a number of key product groups, including index design and production, ETF processing, and trade reporting within Markit. They will also be actively involved in a new initiative to expand the coverage to multi-asset class.

Duties accountabilities

• Maintenance of reference and corporate actions data within a central data repository

• Establish productive working relationships with both internal and external parties These will include data vendors, product heads and technology staff

• Integration of existing and new data sets into the central database, where responsibility has been allocated to the Equity Reference Data team

• Involvement in Equity Reference Data related projects, including gathering requirements, analysis, liaising with development and project management teams to ensure delivery of the project

• Coordination with key product areas in providing data support

• Assist with the development and management of operational and support procedures

Business competencies

Education and experience

• Undergraduate degree level in a financial/quantitative discipline or equivalent preferable

• Strong IT skills, preferably VBA and SQL experience

• Experience in financial data support, with a focus on corporate actions, typically through employment at investment banks, exchanges or in asset servicing

• Experience of implementing/using a corporate action engine (XSP, Smartstream, CAMA) a benefit

• Experience/knowledge of multi-asset instruments a benefit
