The University of Sydney is Australia’s first University. It has an annual turnover of $1.6 billion and $1 billion of endowment funds under management. The University’s Strategic Plan 2011-2015 includes a $900M capital expenditure program that will significantly transform University facilities over the next three years.
We are seeking an Associate Finance Director to lead the Infrastructure Finance Unit. Reporting to the Deputy Chief Financial Officer (DCFO) you will be responsible for the management of a team of 10 that supports and advises the University’s key infrastructure units:
- Information and Communication Technology Services (ICTS) and
- Campus Infrastructure Services (CIS).
In leading this unit, and as a senior manager in the Financial Services organisation, you will:
- be responsible for the delivery of strategic advice and value added service to your client units to assist them and the University meet its strategic goals
- ensure that the application of the University’s accounting systems and processes across your client units are of a consistently high standard and continues to represent best practice
- collaborate and provide support, advice and assistance to the DCFO in the delivery of effective and efficient Financial Services to the broader University.
To be successful in this position you will have:
- strong leadership, people management and development experience
- extensive experience in strategic and operational financial management and reporting (Strategic Plan, Budget, Actual, Forecast etc) gained within a large, complex organisation, particularly with regard to multiple large scale construction and IT projects.
- significant relationship management and change management experience, and able to manage multiple stakeholders
- a degree in accounting, finance, business or commerce and membership of CPA Australia or the Institute of Chartered Accountants.

Remuneration package: $160,043 - $166,390 p.a. (which includes a base salary of $135,545 - $140,970 p.a., leave loading and up to 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation).
