Associate, Infrastructure and Real Assets Equity Group recruitment

This new group will be making a select number of fund commitments while also investing a significant amount of capital in direct equity transactions. The direct equity investments will be comprised of co-investments alongside our fund partners as well as other transactions sourced from additional channels. The team will be building a several billion dollar portfolio. The investment mandate is global, with sectors of emphasis that include infrastructure, energy, timber and agriculture. Our team is located in suburban Chicago, while Allstate Investments also has a London office.

The Associate will assist in all phases of investing - origination, evaluation, closing, monitoring and managing, and exiting - of the portfolio. The Associate will report to a Principal in the IRA group.

In alignment with corporate goals, specific responsibilities for the Associate will include:

• Aide in the research of various market segments in order to develop and refine actionable investment thesis.

• Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis used to support the underwriting of potential investment opportunities.

• Prepare internal memoranda and other materials used to support investment recommendations and to communicate with internal constituents.

• Monitor and manage the performance of existing investments.

• Work on portfolio management initiatives and investment exits.

Professional Background:

The successful candidate will have a minimum two years of work experience in principal investing, investment banking or leveraged lending. Prior experience will ideally include direct exposure to some of the group’s targeted sectors of focus. This individual will have demonstrated increasing levels of responsibility in:

• Proven ability to manage multiple investment-related projects in a time critical, transaction oriented environment (Advanced);

• Demonstrated experience developing financial models, analyzing financial statements and working in a transaction oriented environment (Advanced);

• Experience in construction and management of a private equity portfolio (Basic/Intermediate);

• Completion of a strong credit training program and strong command of accounting and finance (Advanced);

• Knowledge of, and interest in, the Infrastructure and Real Asset private equity markets (Basic/Intermediate);

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills (Advanced);

• Eagerness to work hard in a team-oriented, performance based environment (Advanced);

• A self starter that requires limited oversight in the completion of individual projects (Advanced);

• Travel required.

Educational Background:

Undergraduate degree required. Business related studies preferred.
