Markit Equities provides a suite of products primarily designed to give immediate access to the data required for equity derivative trading and buy-side income forecasting. This encompasses dividend forecasts, index data and daily composition of globally listed ETPs delivered in one validated and cross-referenced feed. In addition to the dividend forecasting and index management business the product range has been extended over the last two yeas, and now includes the ETF Encyclopedia, a reference dataset for all globally listed ETFs, an ETF Dividend service providing dividend estimates on ETFs and MSA, a fully validated and independent market share analysis tool for the European cash equity market including ETFs.
Position summary
Working as part of a team the role involves performing quantitative and qualitative analysis in order to project dividend payouts. In addition to forecasting amounts the analyst must also forecast payment timetables, based on research and guidance from investor relation departments. The successful candidate will be required to write analysis supporting their projections and to respond to client queries in a professional manner.
The position will be based in London, but will involve working with other teams in India, New York and Singapore.
Duties accountabilities
• Forecasting equity dividend payments and writing analysis to support estimates.
• Projecting dividend payment schedules and the impact on the value of equity indices.
• Analysis of equity fundamentals, financial statements and ratios.
• Monitoring stock exchange announcements, earnings calls and company news.
• Analysis of dividend payment schedules and tracking corporate financial calendars.
• Liaising with corporate investor relations depts. to confirm payout policies and schedules.
• Writing research reports discussing trends and projections for clients and the press.
• Contributing to a Daily Newsletter, Twitter Feed and Weekly Digest.
• Responding to client queries and building relationships.
• Working with technical teams and data suppliers to improve operational efficiency and enhance the product.
• Assist with the development of forecasting models and ad-hoc projects to improve estimate accuracy.
Business competencies Education and experience
•Finance-related degree or equivalent
•Understanding of financial statements and ratios
•Knowledge of corporate actions
•Some Knowledge of equity derivatives
•Familiarity with VBA / SQL beneficial
• CFA, or progress towards the qualification, desirable but not essential
