Our team of professionals is responsible for providing independent, objective assurance and advisory services designed to add value, minimize risk and improve the overall control environment of State Street Corporation and its subsidiaries.  Our auditors interact and communicate regularly with executive management and have tremendous insight into all parts of the company's daily operations.  Our audit team acts as:

*   Independent advisors--advising management on risks related to strategic initiatives, organization, process and systemic changes

*   Subject matter specialists and controls experts--providing knowledge and experience in key risk areas

*   Efficiency specialists--identifying inefficiencies in risk management and control design

*   Problem-solving partners--looking ahead to help management envision future risks and opportunities

Position Overview:

The Director of Audit will have global responsibility for the assigned areas within Capital Markets (SSGM) like:  Broker Dealer, derivatives, foreign exchange (FX), eExchange, security lending, trading  and back office operations.

The Director of Audit, will be responsible for defining and executing the annual audit plan on behalf of the Audit Committee. In addition, the Director will be expected to contribute to initiatives of  continuous improvement  focused on audit methodologies, and supporting technology based tools/solutions.

Audit Director, Capital Markets Role,  Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 

Drives preparation of a comprehensive risk-based, long-range program of audit coverage for assigned area.

Develops and maintains partnerships with senior executives within client groups to effectively achieve business results and manage complex audit activities.

Manages audit projects to cover key risks and produce meaningful audit reports that clearly communicate risks and core audit issues

Contributes to overall strategic plan; develops goals and monitors accomplishments.

Managing a team of Audit professionals. Conducts periodic performance reviews; provides ongoing counsel, training, development and motivation. Participates in the hiring, salary, promotional and termination process

Position Goals/Milestones

Develop a strong rapport with senior management to ensure discussions are trusted, constructive and valued. Work diligently to understand client's strategies and risks.

Take ownership of, and demonstrate leadership around "best practice," initiatives coordinated by Corporate Audit leadership committee. For example: Improve methods to better identify key risks, enhance effectiveness of integrated audits, and coordinate regulatory framework/impact on the company.

Improve mechanism which defines the teams and timing of reviews in the annual audit plan. Improve the accuracy in timing and resources, but also build in the capability to be flexible. Better utilize "hub and spoke," concept to allocate staff on audits across the globe.

Maintain relationships and represent State Street within industry organizations and roundtables, SIFMA, RMA, IIA etc.

Education and Experience

15+ years experience in financial services, with a focus on treasury and/or risk for a global bank.

Demonstrated experience managing a team, and ability to take initiative to influence and drive results within a complex organization

Leadership experience in an internal audit function preferred

Advanced degree and/or professional certifications preferred.

Solid understanding of the financial markets, is market savvy.

This position requires up to 20% travel
