Audit Lead recruitment
This role forms part of the EMEA audit team, a key part of Northern Trust’s Audit Services function, and is focused on audits of Northern Trust’s FX, Securities Lending, Asset Management, Credit Services and Risk Management activities within EMEA. Under general supervision, an Audit Leader conducts and documents audits in line with Departmental Standards throughout the Corporation. Based on skill sets and experience, Audit Leaders may also be required to supervise audit project teams, including communicating results of the engagement to management. The Audit Leader provides technical expertise and training on specialised areas to auditors within the engagement’s audit team. Works closely with Audit Project Specialists, Audit Project Managers and Audit Managers to confirm the scope of the audit and to devise and deploy an appropriate testing approach during the engagement.
Major Duties
1. Leads audit teams in executing risk based audit projects primarily focusing on Foreign Exchange, Securities Lending, Asset Management, Credit Services and Risk Management. Responsible for the planning, scoping, execution, documenting and communication of audit results to both Audit and Business Unit Management.
2. Provides training, coaching and auditing expertise to auditors during the audit engagement.
3. Functions in various roles on audit engagements, including leading audits, executing audits and providing oversight functions based on the needs of the team. Conducts and documents audits throughout the Corporation
4. Utilizes understanding of various business units to ensure operations, services and systems have proper controls in place (i.e., design of the control environment).
5. During the planning of the audit, develops a budget and/or timeframe for how the audit will be completed. Responsible for scoping, executing, documenting and reporting the audit in accordance with stated timeframes and Departmental Standards.
6. Applies analytical skills to review and test business processes, perform risk and control assessments, document results and report the audit results including the adequacy of controls.
7. With partners at all levels, communicates audit results and develops and presents recommendations on operations and controls to the business unit.
8. Reviews work of all members of the engagement team ensuring that Departmental Audit Standards have been met.
9. Coordinates with the Specialist Audit Teams (e.g., IT, Risk Management) to ensure evaluations of related areas occur timely and cover key areas within the audit engagement.
Knowledge/Skills
- Extensive knowledge and application of audit procedures and standards (planning, execution and reporting of an audit) obtained through related work experience is required.
- Experience of auditing trading desk activities, typically gained in a banking audit environment, together with knowledge of risks and controls of trading activities, including operational, market, liquidity and credit risks.
- Knowledge of corporate policies and procedures that relate to auditing/ accounting standards, analytical skills are necessary to prepare and document audit reviews.
- Knowledge of the operations, functions, and objectives of interfacing areas is required to properly audit operations, services, systems, workflow, and operational impact on other areas.
