AVP
Reporting to the VP Legal Compliance for Hong Kong, this role is accountable for the development, implementation and maintenance of compliance programmes to manage risks associated with the distribution of insurance and securities regulated products across operations in Hong Kong and Macau.
This role provides leadership to a team of compliance specialists and supports the Distribution Business Unit in achieving strategic and tactical objectives relative to distribution while enhancing and protecting the reputation of the business. This individual will interact with other compliance staff in MIL, field management, Asia Region Legal and Compliance and regulators
Key Responsibilities -
- Responsible for the overall development and implementation of strategies for the effective management of distribution compliance risks within MIL This will include:
- The ongoing assessment of distribution compliance risks and the development of mitigation strategies;
- The ongoing development of policies and procedures for distribution compliance programmes across all distribution channels and product lines;
- The ongoing development of effective tools to manage distribution compliance risks; and
- The provision of regular reports to senior management on the state of distribution compliance within the company.
- Provide leadership and direction to the Distribution Compliance staff to ensure a consistent and thorough understanding of the risks associated with the distribution of all financial products across all distribution channels. Maintenance of good working relationships with other business unit management is also required to ensure appropriate understanding of, and resourcing for, distribution compliance initiatives within the business units.
- Responsible for ensuring an appropriate level of consistency among all agents and distributors through the provision of regular communications, training and education.
Requirements -
- Degree holder with a major in Finance, Accounting or Law
- Minimum 10 years' of relevant work experience, of which 8 years' at managerial level.
- Familiar with the regulatory environment, legal structure and roles responsibilities in the territory
- Strong analytical, risk assessment and problem solving skills, with good business acumen
- Proven ability to manage a large number of relationships with senior managers and to manage the inherent conflicts that can exist between compliance and business objectives
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
- Tactful in assessing and providing sound judgments on controversial compliance regulatory issues in grey area
- In-depth knowledge of compliance philosophy, strategy, programs, as well as internal controls and risk management
- Fluency in English and Chinese (Cantonese)
