Main Function
Responsible for the effective credit risk management (evaluation of risk/exposure management) of designated industry/geographic sector(s)
Prudent and appropriate use of delegated discretion to approve and monitor credit exposures to Barclays Capital counterparties
Helps support growth of the business without incurring unmanageable risks
Engage in assessing and making recommendations of proposals received from business development/product areas
Stay current with financial analysis and risk profile of the assigned sectors, borrowers and counterparties
Alert manager of negative developments and trends for clients and segments within the assigned sectors
Main Duties
Evaluation and proactive management of credit exposures to assigned names and their subsidiaries
Monitoring of annual and quarterly financial performance
Preparation of annual credit and industry reviews
Preparation and presentation of larger, more complex transactions/credits to Group Credit Committee, Barclays Capital Credit Committee, or Barclays Capital Exposures Committee.
Counterparty/borrower due diligence, including participation in conference calls / meetings with counterparty senior management, Relationship Executives and Sales personnel
Attendance at bank meetings/analyst meetings, as appropriate
Evaluation and assignment of internal credit grades, loss given default/probable recovery on an ongoing basis
Engage with IBD, Legal, Leveraged Finance, and Risk Solutions Group to structure satisfactory credit terms in unsecured or lien based secured lending and trading documentation.
Where sector difficulties or client specific difficulties are identified, provide hands-on support to the team to ensure that appropriate action is taken to mitigate credit risk.
Continuous development of industry knowledge through research, contacts and participation in seminars
Continuous development of product knowledge in accordance with product offerings of the firm
Development of personal contacts with all product teams and related support functions
Accurate and relevant documentation of required information in all presentations in conformance with Bank policy and procedures
Processing of all limit requests, product proposals and preparation of recommendations to senior management
Monitoring of limit utilization and excesses for assigned names; referral of excesses with recommendations to senior management for their review
Interact with product areas during new transaction proposals to better understand the risks involved
Maintenance and control of credit files for assigned names
Person Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance
- 2+ years of experience in Financial Services
- 2+ years of experience with MS Excel Candidate should have relevant experience covering North American corporate, healthcare and industrial counterparties.
Preferred Qualifications:
- General knowledge of capital markets and traded products
- Prior credit training from a recognized program
- Clear and succinct writing skills
- Good verbal presentations skills
- Knowledge of bank exposure systems, analysis packages
- Ability to analyze transactions with a variety of products and structures
- Experience in reviewing derivative transactions and ISDA documentation
- High degree of proficiency with worksheet-based financial modeling and analysis of projections
- Candidate should have relevant experience covering North American corporate, healthcare and industrial counterparties.
- Self-motivated yet team-oriented. Candidate should be highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
- Possess a strong attention to detail and work within narrow time constraints.
