AVP Analyst-Structured Finance recruitment

Responsibilities
Lead analyst responsibility for the rating of a portfolio of structured finance transactions, primarily consumer asset-backed securities, in accordance with the relevant methodology. Duties also include modeling transactions, reviewing legal documentation, preparing and presenting to rating committee the rating analysis package supporting his/her rating recommendation. Publishing research and interacting with issuers, intermediaries and investors are also among the responsibilities.

Analytics:
- Conduct quantitative assessment of financial statements and economic/market data, as well as analysis of legal documents and deal structure.
- Conduct initial and on-going credit analysis on more complex financial assets and structures with limited guidance.
- Identify and address relevant legal issues associated with legal documents governing transactions and guide more junior analysts on key legal issues.
- Demonstrate a detailed understanding of and apply key features of quantitative models in the rating process, including developing excel-based models.
- Identify credit risks and mitigants and prepare written rating recommendations with limited guidance.
- Formulate a cogent rating rationale and present this rationale in a persuasive fashion at rating committee while leading the committee discussion.
- Maintain a solid understanding of relevant industry, competitive landscape and current trends affecting industry participants and represent Moody's to market participants on these topics.
- Explain rating approach issues and rationale both internally and externally.
- Participate in operational reviews and other client meetings to obtain necessary information for analysis.
- Actively monitor portfolio, keep informed of market developments and make recommendations for rating transitions in a timely fashion.

Research:
- Produce timely and relevant research on new structured transactions, or sector related market reviews with limited guidance that are in-depth, high quality, insightful and focused.

Issuer/Investor Relations:
- Provide issuers, intermediaries and investors with timely service by responding to issues, meeting requests and discussing reasonable timeframes for services
- Manage issuer and intermediary expectations effectively to minimize last minute issues.
- Handle investor calls with guidance from senior team members.
- Speak at briefings and outside industry conferences.

Communications:
- Present credits effectively and comprehensively in rating committees and other internal analytical meetings and contribute high quality insight with regard to structured financial instruments.
- Coach and develop junior analysts.
- Mentor team members in the basics of rating structured transactions.

Qualifications
- Graduate / second level degree (e.g., MBA, Masters) or strong equivalent academic background in relevant areas.
- Five to seven years relevant experience that provides a good understanding of financial markets and business environment.
- Well-developed analytical skills with the ability to collate information into reasoned arguments.
- Strong written and oral communication capabilities.
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities within deadlines.
- Solid computer skills: spreadsheet software (i.e. Excel) mandatory, additional database programs or statistical packages preferred. Experience in cash flow modeling and statistical analysis of data.
