AVP, Control & Governance

Purpose of role

The role holder will be part of the Control and Governance team, which oversees the control environment for the Funds and Platforms businesses.  The role holder will take an active role in reviewing risk reports from our third party custodians, internal supplier management teams and support the reporting process to the Board of Directors of the Funds and the Conducting Officers in Luxembourg.

Preparation and oversight of the suite of market and operational risk management reports, complying with UCITS and other regulatory requirements

 

Core accountabilities

The role holder will prepare, in a timely manner, Board Reporting packs and Management Information. They will look to continuously improve our reporting processes and work with the team to raise the standards of Management Information to allow the business to discharge its’ Regulatory responsibilities and provide the Board of Directors of the Funds with sufficient information to make informed decisions about the Fund’s operational and investment control environment. The successful candidate should also be able to maintain all relevant documentation, the fund bible and also conduct annual reviews of our policies and procedure documents.

Role requirements

Understanding the UCITS regulations as they relate to the management and control environment; understanding investment restriction monitoring and root-cause analysis of any breaches or exceptions (investment or operational) that occur. The role holder is expected to have an extremely organised approach, with attention to detail, ability to work unsupervised in documenting control processes and supporting our regulatory requirements.

 

The successful candidate must have experience of being able to distil and summarise salient information from multiple sources and present to peers in regular governance / risk reports and have excellent Excel and Word skills.

Professional/technical experience

The role holder will possess a minimum of three years’ experience within financial Services Asset or Investment Management, a good knowledge of the funds industry (regulatory, operational, risk control and compliance regime, product development, sales and marketing), a good understanding of the Funds industry sector and the associated client needs. The role holder should have a good understanding of the functions that Global Custodians, Administrators and Transfer Agents undertake and how these processes relate to pooled funds.

 

The role holder will have worked in operational risk, legal, compliance or investment operations.

 

Academic and professional qualifications

A graduate, minimum 2:1 or above, preferably from a Russell University. Any progress towards audit, risk or other appropriate professional exams would be of interest.
