Collateral Management (CM)
- CM is responsible for supporting the collateralization of the derivatives, repurchase agreement (repo) and foreign exchange (FX) businesses. This global group has offices in London, New York, Tokyo and Singapore and supports nearly 8000 clients. CM Americas actions approx 1,000 margin calls daily and is also responsible for the settlement and management of the collateral.
Daily Responsibilities:
- Manage a team, covering derivative and repo margin and interest
- Review and interpret ISDA and other trade documentation with a view to translating into the applicable Margin system.
- Hold periodic team meetings, staff meetings and training sessions to communicate changes and initiatives to staff
- Facilitate management of staffing and headcount issues, manage relationships with external staffing vendors, interview and hire new staff, etc.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with Credit, Legal, Business and other operation groups.
- Provide reconciliation utility for proactive portfolio reconciliation.
- Ensure that FED mandates are adhered to for FED 16 clients.
- Trade Exception Management - Co-ordinate issue resolution with various parties, such as – Vendor Partner, Sales Support, Middle Office and Front Office.
- Client Query Resolution – have full responsibility of handling and resolving all client queries as well as building operational relationships with Top Tier clients.
- Control and verify manual changes in the Margin systems.
- Resolve queries on margin process and system calculations
- Consistently seek opportunities to improve processes, controls and procedures within the Margin Management team
- Partner with the project team to develop requirements for system enhancements and assist with user acceptance testing.
- Coordinate closely with the Client Service Management Team and other relationship managers to advise of client queries, requests and issues.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years experience of derivatives and repo margining under ISDA CSA Agreements
- 4 year college degree required in business related subject
- Proven experience managing a large group
- Knowledge of derivatives trades (swaps/options etc) and collateral products (Treasuries, Agencies, MBS etc) is required
- Client facing skills with Financial Institutions, Hedge Funds, Insurance firms and Energy companies a plus.
- Knowledge of settlement processes is preferred
Proficient in MS suite of products including Excel and Word.
