AVP Oil Product Control recruitment

My client a leading global organisation is currently seeking an AVP for a challenging role within the Commodities Product Control team focusing on setting up the Oils desk.  This role will be mainly focused on the reporting and analysis of daily PL. The successful candidate will work closely with all other areas of the Finance department, liaising with the trading desk, risk management, operations and middle office.

The key responsibilities for the role include but aren’t limited to the following:

• Daily production of PLs and communication of results to the Desk. Explanation of PL movements to management in terms of trading activity, key drivers and profit attribution analysis. .

• Participation in desk level activities, including preparing the daily product specific business level revenues and commentary.

• Understand the Price Verification process and its impact on the PL.

• Reviewing new trades, understanding the structure, associated risks and the PL generated on them.

• Working with Accounting Policy to determine appropriate accounting treatment for trades under U.S and U.K GAAP.

• Taking ownership of the Balance Sheet and ensuring adequate Balance Sheet and PL controls exist and are monitored daily. 

• Working on ad-hoc projects relating to improvements of system infrastructure.  Must be able to work with I.T on system enhancements and resolving production issues.

• Management responsibility, although this may not be in the early stage of the role.

The successful candidate will need the following knowledge and experience:

• Good understanding of Investment Banking

• Detailed knowledge of Crude Oil and distillates is essential.

• Knowledge of other Commodity Products would be beneficial especially Precious Metals.

• Ability to interpret financial information.      

• Ability to negotiate and strong people skills.

• Ability to put knowledge of financial principle into PL and Profit Attribution analysis.

• Able to perform effectively within a time pressurised environment.

• Minimum of 2:1 Honours degree or equivalent

• At least 24 points at A-Level – Ideally A’s in numeric subject (Maths/ Further Maths)

• Qualified Accountant (not essential)

• Exceptional candidates who do not meet these criteria may be considered for the role provided they have the necessary skills and experience.
