AVP, Planning & Analysis
Principal Responsibilties include:
Management Reporting and Business Analysis
- Develop enhanced management reports that communicates the most relevant messages to provide insight and encourage discussion about business drivers
- Analyze operational and financial data and transform it into meaningful information and business intelligence that is actionable
- Establish financial metrics and KPIs to continually monitor business performance and evaluate growth drivers
- Provide high level overviews and reports of financial information and results to senior management and internal Finance colleagues
- Develop analytics, variance reports and charts and graphs to depict and analyze corporate and departmental results
- Support strategic technology initiatives to enhance management reporting and profitability analysis
- Provide business leaders with information to raise the understanding of historical trends
- Provide additional analysis and insight on allocations, transfer pricing and profitability analysis
Competitive Analysis
- Provide robust reporting on major competitors including financial metrics such as revenue, expense, PTI, margins, etc.
- Lead efforts to update industry surveys to garner information on asset management firm results and OFI competitiveness
- Identify more sophisticated means to report and evaluate our competitiveness
Budgeting and Forecasting
- Work on strategic planning efforts with senior management and MassMutual to assure forecast and budget aligns to vision
- Work with team to assure budgets and forecasts reflect corporate goals, business initiatives and competitive positioning
- Develop enhanced reports and analysis to compare actuals, forecasts and budgets
Competencies for Success/Requirements
Ideal candidate is a creative thinker who has the ability to see the big picture, while at the same time has a strong sense of urgency, can handle tight deadlines and focuses on results. Candidate should be able to analyze financial results against internal business goals and initiatives as well as incorporate information about the markets and competitive environment.
- 8+ years experience in financial services, preferably asset management
- Managerial experience
- Highly proficient in technology and software especially Excel and Essbase as well as Powerpoint and other MS Office products
- BA or BS required; MBA preferred
- Strong oral and written communication abilities; strong interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical skills; strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Ability to interface effectively with senior management
- Ability to work independently; self-starter; sense of urgency
- Knowledge of finance/accounting rules and practices
