AVP, Unit Head, Client Accounting recruitment
The role of Unit Head - Client Accounting is within the Global Services - Operations department of State Street Singapore which is responsible for the delivery of custody / fund accounting related services to institutional clients across South Asia. The specific duties responsibilities include:
- Leading a team of approx. 14 staff which has a mix of experience levels. The leadership of this team is critical to the role with the key priorities being succession planning and staff development.
- Responsibility for a wide range of both standard and customized fund accounting deliverables. Deliverables occur on a daily, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual basis. The annual reporting in particular is critical to servicing this client and involves several months of pre-planning.
- Responsibility for the resolution troubleshooting of both custody and accounting related issued.
- Oversight, liaison and monitoring of various operational / process related Centres of Excellence located within the Asia Pacific region and North America.
- Participate in and, in some instances, lead a wide range of projects related to both client requests and internal efficiency / transformation initiatives.
- Participate in and, in some instances, lead a client service reviews and other client presentations.
- Achieving maximum efficiency within the team and willing to meet challenging headcount targets.
QUALIFICATION / EDUCATION
Degree qualified with an accounting element or a postgraduate accounting qualification.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
The candidate would have 9+ years of experience in custody / fund accounting / fund administration environment where they had significant exposure to both BAU tasks and client related projects / efficiency initiatives. The candidate would need to be comfortable in handling a range of technical accounting issues as well as custody related troubleshooting such as urgent settlement and corporate actions issues.
The candidate would also have had significant exposure in working within a global operating model where they have dealt with other internal parties located all over the world. From a management perspective the candidate would need to have significant experience in managing operational teams of 12 or more staff and be used to working in a fast paced environment.

- Strong leadership skills - the candidate must be very comfortable with taking on responsibility and accountability.
- Strong people manager, the management of the team, development of staff and succession planning is critical to the success of this role.
- Strong communication skills - there is a significant amount of interaction with clients, senior management and other key stakeholders.
- Strong change agent – the team and company generally are undergoing a significant amount of change and transformation in terms of processes, operating model and business requirements. We need someone who is willing to embrace and address these challenges, not someone intimidated or resistant by them.
- Strong technical, critical thinking and creative thinking skills – the range of daily issues as well as the need to come up with creative solutions to client requests requires a nimble, adaptable and creative approach.
