Responsible for developing upgraded hardware and associated interfaces for the AN/FPS-123/132, Solid State Phased Array Radar Systems. Designs and configures hardware and networks for Radar systems. Analyzes / develops requirements for sustainment and modernization engineering projects. Subsequently, develops briefings, trade studies, project deliverables and associated documentation. Leads or works within a team environment by actively participating in working groups, sharing ideas, and helping others, all with the goal of successfully completing projects. Formulates requirements and analysis, develops and formalizes designs into systems, schematics, and ICDs.
Tasks:
* Determine the technical objectives and top level project requirements necessary to satisfy Customer requirements, deliverables, and expectations for sustainment and modernization hardware projects.
Develop a design based on the requirements and associated architectures allocated to the subsystem level. Design activities may include design analyses, modeling, simulations, drawing development, and bread boarding or prototyping activities.
Ensure compliance with the approved Systems Specifications/Requirements and allocates requirements to the appropriate configuration items.
Support reverse engineering of obsolete components; create new specifications for purpose of procurement of functional replacement of obsolete components. Develops and presents technical briefings to upper management, government representatives, and Air Force personnel.
Supports Technical Order (TO) and engineering drawings production, modification, validation and verification process.
Support independent test organizations during integration, development, and operational testing.
Determine the technical objectives and top level project requirements necessary to satisfy Customer requirements, deliverables, and expectations for sustainment and modernization hardware projects.
Work within an evolving and highly process oriented environment that follows IEEE based SENSOR product lifecycle path.
Provide engineering support to logistics department to anticipate and identify: (a) obsolete components; (b) maintenance drivers and deficiencies; (c) high-failure rate components; and (d) components experiencing adverse age or usage-induced failures. Conceive and develop cost effective engineering responses to replace end of life parts/equipment, maintain or improve system availability and reliability, increase mean time between failures and mean time between corrective actions, and reduce cost of ownership.
Support successful system integration which relies on the timely identification, management and verification of system interface requirements and design as well as commitment of appropriate resources to plan, prepare for, and perform integration and timely verification.
Support an effective validation and verification process which ensures that systems developed by ITT and associate contractors comply with customer requirements and baselined system requirements.
Analyses and troubleshoots existing installed base of system and line replaceable units both in a remote and on site setting.
Travel to sensor sites and other locations as required in support of assigned tasks.
Basic Qualifications:
* 9 Years with Bachelors of Science in Engineering; 7 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD.
Must be a US Citizen with a current active Secret clearance
Experience giving briefings to senior program and Government management
Preferred Qualifications:
* A firm understanding of the space surveillance, missile warning and missile defense missions
Experience with BMEWS/PAVE PAWS Hardware
