Our client is a profitable, world-leading banking organisation. The firm is expanding, and seeking to add two additional hires to its Operational Risk team.
The primary areas of responsibility for the Operational Risk Department are supporting the development, implementation and monitoring of operational risk based programmes to identify, assess and mitigate any operational risk that arises from inadequate or failed internal processes, people, systems or external events, while maintaining a balance between risk mitigation and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities are as follows:
- Contribute in developing, implementing and monitoring a risk-based program to identify, assess and mitigate any operational risk that arises.
- Support the Business in developing a clear understanding of its operational risk profile and its operational risk and control responsibilities. Provision of operational risk support, advice and guidance to ensure appropriate operating procedures and controls are in place.
- To maintain internal control standards, including timely mitigation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external auditors.
- Support the operation of the governance structures and attend appropriate governance committees.
- Oversight and maintenance of KRIs for the region.
- Enhance oversight credible challenge of business risks and effectiveness of controls in process administered by the business.
- Contribute to the evolution of the OR capital approach, in line with ICAAP including scenario analysis.
- Cross train to support depth of coverage within ORM Team. Develop and deliver training around lessons learned from both internal and external events.
- Manage and provide guidance to less experience operational risk consultants.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in Operational risk.
- Exposure to the performance of OR identification/assessments and the identification of setting of risk indicators.
- Knowledge of operational risk methodologies.
- Strong commercial awareness of the financial drivers and risk activities of a banking services operation.
- Demonstrated ability to build partnering relationships across the company at all levels (persuasive, good listener and assimilator of ideas and perspectives).
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to identify problems and develop solutions.
- Ability to work effectively with change.
- Relevant business/accounting degree or equivalent.
- Operational Risk qualification a plus.
