An opportunity has arisen to join one of Australia’s most reputable asset managers. This firm has over 20 years experience investing listed securities on behalf of corporations, institutions, industry and corporate superannuation funds, charities and high net worth individuals.
In the role of Investment Analyst you will be responsible for analysing the financials sector and generating investment ideas with a strong bias to the long term. You will monitor and evaluate the relative business structures, financials and business strategies to form a view on valuation and to create investment cases where appropriate. This would involve carrying out detailed bottom up financial analysis; examination of company balance sheets as well as visiting companies and interacting with company management. You will be expected to communicate your findings in the investment committee meeting to ensure the overall portfolio is managed effectively and genuine investment opportunities are utilised by portfolio management team.
The successful candidate will be a seasoned Equity Analyst with approximately 3-5 years experience covering the financials sector. The ideal candidate will have experience in analysing Asian or other Emerging markets financials although Australian experience will also be considered. Candidates should have worked with either another asset manager or in equity research. Individuals of interest may also bring a macro economic background which could have been gained via the Reserve Bank of Australia or similar institution. Candidates will exhibit outstanding academic qualifications with the CFA and or a Masters of Applied Finance being viewed favourably. Strong communication and writing skills are essential.
