Our Client based in London are looking to recruit a Benefit Assessment Officer to join a highly rated assessment team to process benefit claims mainly changes to circumstances. Accessible location as their office is based close to the location bus and train station.

The Job

As the successful candidate you will be a member of a team assessing entitlement to Housing and Council Tax Benefit for applicants living in both Council and privately rented accommodation or who apply for Council Tax Benefit only. The successful candidate will assess claims in accordance with legislation and address the enquiries of customers in a helpful and sensitive manner whilst ensuring that procedures are followed in order to provide a high quality Benefits service. Ensure that these services are delivered within the Council’s framework of quality standards, performance targets, budgetary control and legislative requirements.
The Person
As the successful candidate you will need experience in processing all types of housing and council tax benefit claims and full understanding of associated housing and council tax benefit legislation with the knowledge of the process you will also need to have experience of working within the public sector.
To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate the following:
· Willing to work in ‘back office’ or ‘front office’ as required to best suit the needs and requirements of the service
· Ability to be self motivated and proactively work towards completion of cases
· Experience of using Northgate is essential
· Experience of using information@work is an advantage
