The Select, Field Management and Finance Business Intelligence team is seeking a highly motivated individual with Cognos reporting expertise whose skills and commitment to customer service will enhance the team's ability to successfully meet its responsibilities to all customers within the portfolio. This person¿s primary roles are to develop and deliver reports, ad-hoc queries and be able to work with people from end users of the reports to technical staff in IT. Job Summary In this role you will take responsibility for reporting on key data surrounding our repositories. Use business intelligence (BI) tools and technologies to collect, evaluate and analyze management information. Develop requirements and specifications and carry out project tasks to develop, design, automate, compile, prepare and test reports and dashboards. Provide user groups with interactive and formatted reports across financial system and process solutions for the Select, Field Management and Finance organizations. This position requires attention to detail, keen analytical skills, and a strong drive for acquiring knowledge. Primary Duties and Responsibilities - Developing robust and scalable solutions to complex reporting and analysis problems through the use of BI tools against relational and OLAP data sources. - Design, development and testing of reports, analytical workspaces, dashboards and scorecards from many various data sources including Teradata, DB2, Oracle, SQL Server, MSAS and Legacy environments. - Hands-on development and problem solving skills. - Ensures that reports are precise, timely and accurate. - Prepare or assist with technical specifications. - Develop accurate and complete estimates for enhancements and new reports. - Troubleshooting support issues that require Cognos, SQL and data expertise - Uses innovative insights and creativity in evaluating the alternatives. - Demonstrates ability to adjust priorities based on changing situations and handle several high priority projects at once. - Work effectively both independently and in a team environment. - Excellent ability to clearly communicate with team members and customers. - Builds relationships with peers, management, and business partners to achieve objectives. - Creates an atmosphere where business partner issues are dealt with professionally and in a timely manner. - Puts success of team above own interests. - Working with relational-database designers to define data models, indexing, and other database artifacts to support the needs of the reporting tools. Work Experience - 3+ years experience as a developer using Cognos or similar BI tools - 2+ years experience working in a fast paced reporting and data warehousing environment - Ability to determine best reporting approach relating to varying data sources and report functionality and complexity - Computer Proficiency: Cognos, MicroStrategy, SAS, P/L-SQL, Teradata, Oracle, SQL Server, MSAS, Toad, Visio and ERWin or other data modeling tool Qualifications: - Intermediate - Knowledge and experience as a developer using Cognos, MicroStrategy, SAS, SQL or other BI tools against multiple data sources including Teradata, SQL Server, MSAS, Oracle and DB2 - Intermediate - Knowledge of business intelligence processes and techniques including OLAP/Ad Hoc reporting, data extraction and data management - Intermediate - Strong interpersonal and client management skills - Intermediate - Sound analytical and technical skills - Intermediate - Ability to quickly and accurately estimate work effort for project tasks involving reporting and dashboards - Intermediate - Knowledge of ETL tools, databases, and data warehousing Travelers is an equal opportunity employer.
