Role Description We are seeking to hire a computational expert to develop software and algorithms to aid in solving emerging Biologics engineering challenges. The incumbent will collaborate with group members to solve efforts to engineer protein antigens, recover antibodies from immunizations and screens, optimize antibody stabilities and affinities, and support reference databases and interfaces to data generated during the engineering process. Responsibilities - Perform data analysis and visualization for laboratory scientists. - Develop Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS). - Development and automation of workflows for bioinformatics processes, using Perl and shell scripting. - Develop infrastructure for high throughput sequence analysis and oligonucleotide design. - Integration of public domain genomic databases with proprietary data. Qualifications - BA/MS + 5 years relevant experience, or PhD with relevant experience, in computational biology (biologist/chemist with computational sciences training / experience or computational scientist with experience in biology/chemistry). - Demonstrated ability to collaborate with laboratory scientists on research projects. - Proven expertise in the development and / or implementation of algorithms to distill, analyze and interpret complex datasets. - Experience with structural biology, sequence analysis, and other bioinformatics systems. - Computer science skills: object oriented Perl, C or C++, SQL, mySQL, R, strong Dynamic web skills, experience using source code management systems, advanced Linux (Unix). - Background in biological sciences: genetics (population variation, gene structure, genomics), gene annotation, sequence analysis algorithms, pattern recognition. Background in immunology a plus. - Experience with sequence and structure analysis of antibodies a significant plus. - Social skills: Enthusiastic self-starter, effective communicator, proactive, independent.
