The contractor shall: 1. Perform experiments to investigate the mechanisms by which different cofactors/drugs alter the properties of steroid-regulated gene expression in human tissue culture cells. 2. Conduct experiments designed to determine the kinetically defined mechanism by which, and the position of action where, cofactors/drugs alter the total activity of agonists, the EC50 of agonists, and the partial agonist activity of antisteroids in the induction of exogenous and endogenous genes by glucocorticoid and related steroid receptors. 3. Organize daily laboratory notebook on experiments in accordance with laboratory guidelines. 4. Prepare summary, conclusions and future directions for discussion with staff at the end of each experiment. 5. Provide monthly progress notes on assigned projects. Submit final progress reports and future directions on projects. 6. Prepare short resumes on scientific questions. 7. Perform scientific literature searches. 8. Write and submit research papers to peer-reviewed scientific journals. 9. Contribute to collaborative projects with other laboratories and departments. 10. Give and attend all laboratory presentations about important scientific papers, progress of experiments, and regularly scheduled meetings of related/collaborating laboratories. 11. Produce presentation slides for meetings. REQUIREMENTS. The contractor must have: 1. BS in Cell and Molecular Biology or a related discipline. 2. Minimum of six 6 years of laboratory experience and evidence of productivity (e.g. publications). 3. Expertise in molecular biology techniques with mammalian cells. 4. Ability to maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records. 5. Knowledge of proper laboratory disposal methods and safety procedures. 6. Strong expertise in mammalian tissue culture, transient transfection and reporter gene assays, PCR, RC-PCR (recombinant circle PCR), antibody techniques, and generation and production of recombinant proteins. 7. Laboratory experience with basic current molecular biology techniques e.g., DNA and RNA preparation, growth and purification of plasmids, Western Blotting and gel electrophoresis and control mechanisms of eukaryotic gene expression. 8. Knowledge of steroid receptors, cloning and point mutagenesis of plasmids, qRT-PCR, ChIP assays, operation of automated luminometer. 9. Knowledge of Macintosh computer and Microsoft Office Suite MS Word, Excel, Out-look, PowerPoint. 10. Strong communications skills, both oral and written. 11. Strong presentation, self-motivational, team work and problem solving skills. 12. Excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal and time management skills. APPLY ONLINE.
