Job Description Job Classification: Direct Hire Aerotek is currently in search of a Research Assistant for a permanent position with the following experience: BASIC QUALIFICATIONS - Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology or science related field required and a minimum of 1-3 years experience post-baccalaureate that includes: - PCR, southern and northern analysis independently - Plasmid cloning of adenovirus expression shuttle plasmids with solid knowledge of preparing plasmid mini prep DNA and maxi prep DNA - Cell culture techniques - Immunology assays: Western, ELISA, ELISPOT, Immunofluorescence, Multi-color flow cytometry and intracellular cytokine staining - Working knowledge with basic computer programs including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel. - Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal, and administrative skills are required. Should be a team player, who enjoys working in a dynamic goal-oriented environment. GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION - The successful candidate is responsible for cloning of candidate antigen genes and construction of an array of adenovectors expressing malaria antigens. - The candidate will also join the efforts for establishing mouse challenge model that involve extensive use of cellular immunology techniques including multi-color flow cytometry, T cell proliferation, ELISA assay and ELISPOT assays. - The selected candidate is responsible for molecular and biological characterization of adenovirus vectors, performing in vitro and in vivo analysis of vaccine vectors - The selected candidate will perform basic molecular biology techniques such as PCR and cloning. - The selected candidate will perform data acquisition and apply general statistical, tabular, and other reliability measures in assisting with the analysis and evaluation of the data collected.
