Biologist- Protein Engineering
Applied Molecular Evolution (AME) a wholly owned subsidiary of Eli Lilly and Company is a leader in applying directed molecular evolution to improve patient outcomes. Since its inception, AME's principal focus has been on applying its proprietary AME system technology platform to the full range of protein therapeutic candidates including antibodies, cytokines, hormones and enzymes to develop novel human biotherapeutic candidates. While geographically separate, AME works closely with Lilly colleagues in Indianapolis and around the world, sharing a corporate legacy of integrity and commitment to quality that spans more than a century. This is an opportunity for an independent self-motivated researcher to join the Lilly Biotechnology Center in San Diego.
KEY OBJECTIVES/DELIVERABLES:
- Our research group conducts protein engineering and in vitro research to support early drug discovery programs.
- Understanding of early drug discovery process and protein engineering to optimize the pharmacology of novel compounds In vitro target validation, cell based assay development and execution and data analysis are often required to support the engineering process.
- Techniques include, but are not limited to, molecular biology, ELISA, cell culture and cell based assays.
- Individuals with strong problem solving skills, a clear knowledge of experimental design and data analysis and an ability to present data and summarize conclusions in written and oral forms will be considered.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- B.S or M.S. in molecular biology, cellular biology or other related disciplines.
- 3 plus years of laboratory experience in the biological sciences.
- Qualified candidate must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Lilly does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this position.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS/PREFERENCES:
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team to design and conduct research experiments
- Experience with protein engineering and cell based assays highly desired
