Business Analyst – Commodities recruitment
Working directly in the business you will be responsible for understanding the needs of the business unit and converting these into detailed business proposals in order facilitate change management to systems and related operating procedures.
The role requires careful expectation management of business stakeholders and co-ordination of IT resources to ensure quality delivery to the business. The ideal candidate will need strong commercial understanding of physical commodity trading (preferably agricultural commodities) with a strong financial background and proven experience of working with the business stakeholders new to develop IT investment proposals with clear and quantifiable benefits.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Evaluate proposed projects and ensure that they fit into the group strategy and make the most appropriate use of scarce group resources taking into consideration overall group prioritisation.
- To create, with the business, IT projects that generate measurable ROI and improvement in business unit operating performance
- To understand detailed business requirements and translate into detailed specifications for development.
- To ensure delivery of IT development
- To ensure the implementation of new IT developments and manage related organisational change.
- Provide and organise appropriate training and follow up support to the business
- To ensure that both IT and the business continually assign appropriate resources and skills to ensure timely and cost effective project execution
- Communicate to the Business Unit on project progress.
- Present proposals to the Business Unit IT steering group for their approval and subsequently present with the business sponsor to the Group IT Steering committee to secure funds.
- Co-ordinate User Acceptance Testing.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Experience of working within commodity trading, global logistics or global FMCG companies or as an IT or management consultancy supplier to these industries. You will ideally have operated within IT departments but in a business facing role or within the business having a strong commercial understanding of IT projects.
- Able to work with senior management on business issues helping to identify opportunities and being capable of preparing robust business cases
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work both within the business and IT providing clarity without technical jargon
- Collaborative management style capable of engaging executives across a wide international base to commit to IT projects and their deliverables
- Good project management skills with experience of managing business and IT resources
- A self-starter and innovative but with strong awareness of how to work effectively in a large corporate environment to ensure buy-in.
- Experience of working internationally would be of benefit
- Customer and service centric approach to IS delivery
