Business Analyst Job in Rensselaer, New York US
We have the following 18 month contract with our direct client the New York State Office of Children and Family Services.
Description:
OCFS is seeking a highly experienced and professional Business Analyst.
The individual selected will be functioning as the Senior IT Business Analyst and will be responsible for building strong business partner relationships, developing business solutions and providing functional support as needed for the Adoption Systems and other business functions. This individual will work with business users on gathering functional requirements, building new business case studies, functioning as the acting Project Manager, proposing prioritized solutions and coordinating with the development teams to deliver specific enhancements and projects. This position is highly visible and requires a person who can work with the Human Services Program Staff, Accounting, Tax, Legal and HR business teams and help them on effective utilization of Business applications including VB.Net, C# and/or Silverlight. This individual MUST have outstanding communication skills both verbal and written arenas. Individual not possessing and demonstrating outstanding communication and problem solving skills will not be considered.
Responsibilities:
- · Serve as the IT business analyst and business engagement to the Accounting Department on specific projects and enhancements.
- · Provide functional support on existing Financials Oracle EBS systems.
- · Experience implementing system enhancements in other business functions such as in Legal, HR, Marketing.
- · Work with other business analysts and the development team to convert business requirements into functional and technical designs.
- · Configure system modules
- · Develop test plans and scripts
- · Support and coordinate user acceptance testing (UAT) and training.
- · Coordinate and/or deliver end-user training as appropriate.
- · Support the business in creating Business Requirements Documents, and create Functional Design and Testing documents.
- · Lead small projects and enhancements from conception through deployment using standard PMO methodology.
- · Manage on-time project delivery and business expectations and ensure internal customer satisfaction
Job Qualifications
- · 5+ years of IT work experience on VB.Net, C# and/or Silverlight applications.
- · Good track record of working as a Business Analyst.
- · Demonstrated successful working relationships with IT and Business customers.
- · Strong negotiation skills and excellent communication and presentation skills are required.
- · Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language to end users and senior management.
- · Exceptional customer service orientation and collaboration skills.
- · Extensive experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Strong multi-tasking capabilities.

2. Minimum of three (3) years experience:
· Examining the methods and processes of the business flow within a diverse public or private service delivery organization
· Assessing and documenting existing business processes and identifying unnecessary steps
· Incorporating value-added steps into a new process through the translation of business practices into terminology and desk products that seamlessly merge computer and microcomputer technology with work processes
· Assessing and documenting existing business processes and identifying where improvements can be made or where new processes can be installed.
· Researching "best practices" of comparable organizations and analyzing the feasibility of installing them where needed.
· Developing new methods and procedures, implementation plans and schedules, and written reports.
· Eliciting and documenting business, user, and system requirements
- Preparing Business Requirements Documents (BRD)
Desirable Experience Preferred for These Positions
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Superior knowledge of the English language and elevated ability to understand and be understood.
- Five or more years experience:
- Facilitating meetings with users to identify and gather business requirements;
- Documenting functional requirements, business rules, and complex security requirements, and analyzing these requirements for integration with existing systems/software utilizing UML methodologies;
- Producing Logical Design documents from which developers can code.
Experience performing these tasks for large, complex, object-oriented .Net web systems is preferred.
3. Five or more years experience:
- Developing test plans,test cases and scripts including user acceptance test plans;
- Scheduling and tracking all system testing;
- Performing unit and regression testing;
4. Supporting users during user acceptance testing.
Five or more years experience:
- Performing data queries for extraction and/or validation for reporting and system validation;
2. Strong SQL skills.
