Business Analyst recruitment
Swiss Re is seeking a business analyst professional who is willing to grow into an important role in the business analysis team of our Information Integration Exploitation unit. In this role the position holder will be part of an international team and will be highly involved in global projects dealing with the rollout of and enhancements to various data warehouses.
The successful candidate has a strong interest in learning or very good knowledge of Property Casualty (PC) and Life Health (LH) re-insurance business. She/he is willing to build up knowledge of our information landscape and to become an expert in our data and the implemented Quality Assurance (QA) tools that guarantee the reliability and the usability of the data towards our clients.
The business analyst will work in a team of highly qualified and experienced information engineers and business analysts, in charge of data integration and exploitation for PC and LH direct insurance and reinsurance businesses. She/he will support our unit in the process of translating raw data into reliable and valuable business information.
The duties of this role include:
- Gather and analyze information requirements, understanding the business issues and challenges of our clients
- Gather and analyze data sourcing requirements, identifying the integration issues of our data providers
- Elaborate and describe data integration and exploitation processes (e.g. high level concepts, detail specification documents etc.)
- Interpretation of information content and validity towards our end-customers
- Identification of data quality issues along the whole data supply chain, assessment of impact and elaboration of solution proposal to fix them,
- Close teamwork, cooperation and collaboration with the data warehouse's clients and providers (business experts and technical development teams)
- Support developers during implementation
- Business-testing, support of UATs
- Enhance our common QA framework and foster its usage across the various warehousing initiatives. This includes the further development of QA techniques like reconciliation, data profiling and business rule engine
- Build up knowledge expertise in PC and LH reinsurance processes and related areas
We are looking for candidates who fulfill all or most of the following:
- At least 5 years business analysis experience. This knowledge would ideally be gained through a consultancy and/or re-insurance related role
- Strong data analysis skills with both relational and multi-dimensional databases
- Strong knowledge of data warehouse development life cycle
- Strong experience with quality assurance and testing in an operational hub or data warehouse environment
- Excellent team player attributes combined with a proactive approach and a 'can do' client-oriented attitude
- Accomplished interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to convey concepts clearly to other people and the ability to influence both technical and business stakeholders
- Awareness of cultural differences and ability to overcome them
- Self starter, independent and responsive
- Drive to get things done
- High level of abstraction, fast understanding and conceptual thinking
- Willingness to take on responsibilities and to perform independently
- Willingness to learn and to develop into a field that requires expertise
- University degree in relevant subject or equivalent
- Very good command of English written and spoken
- German and any additional language is a plus
