My client is a global leader in the multi-modal freight forwarding services industry. They are currently looking for a business development manager to help them develop their market presence in exhibition freight forwarding.
Company:
The organisation has a well-established global network and is especially strong in the Far East, American and European trade routes. They partner with their clients and provide a full supply chain management solution. In addition to general freight forwarding, they have a strong presence within a number of vertical markets including fashion, wine, automotive and events and exhibitions.
With more than 25 years in the freight forwarding industry, this company has established one of the most respected reputations both on the side of client management and staff development. They have a real focus on relationship-building amongst their staff, clients and agents around the world.
Position:
The role is for a business developer who will focus on growing this company's market share in the exhibition freight arena. New business will take priority within the role. However, there will also be a large element of business retention and account growth. The geographical area which is to be developed is the Midlands, though there will be no real limitation on where the executive goes to source business.
In addition to visiting both new and existing clients, the business development manager will be expected to attend conferences and be present at exhibitions for which they have provided services. There is a real team mentality within this division of the company and that attitude will need to be adopted and utilised from day one.
Person:
The right candidate for this job will have a background in selling freight forwarding services and will have at least a familiarity with the specific challenges presented by the events and exhibitions industry. You will have a proven track record of sales success and a real drive to be on the road obtaining new business. Though you will be new business focused, experience in account management will also be a plus as you will deal with existing customers on a regular basis. You will relish the opportunity to join one of the premier organisations in the global freight forwarding sector and look at this role as a long-term career move. Having connections within the exhibitions industry will put you at an advantage as it will provide you with a foundation upon which to build business in an industry where sales can take a long time to develop.
