Overview
The Global Relationship Group (GRG) in Singapore needs to hire a Business Development Manager. The role will be based in Singapore and will report to the Director, Global Relationship Group, Singapore.
Job Responsibilities
The Business Development Manager will be responsible for driving business development strategy and proactively pursuing business opportunities with prospects in South East Asia, with a particular emphasis on the markets outside Singapore, including Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, Brunei, and Vietnam. He/She will work closely with the GRG team in Singapore, and across the region, as well as Product Management, Portfolio Management and other functions to ensure that the firm achieves success in the designated markets.
The Business Development Manager will be responsible for developing high level relationships with all types of institutions in the abovementioned markets.
In addition, this position will have responsibility for the management of Consultant Relationships across Asia (ex-Japan / ex-Australia). The role will develop effective working relationships with external research staff and field consultants, the broader Consultant Relations Group internally, and other functional groups within Wellington.
The role will be based in Singapore but will require extensive travel in the South East Asian region and to Wellington Management's other offices globally.
Qualifications
The individual should have at least ten years of experience within the investment management industry. A strong portfolio of contacts within the industry in the region is a key requirement and a track record of developing sustainable relationships with prospects, clients and consultants is crucial. Preference is for candidates with strong local knowledge and expertise in industry segments that can be developed further in South East Asia, such as insurance, family offices, corporate treasuries.
Knowledge of the various regulations which govern the industry in the region would be expected as would a demonstrated ability to assist organizations in finding creative solutions to meet all their investment related needs.
A deep understanding of investment products and the ability to communicate a thorough understanding of the investment environment including both markets and products to sophisticated audiences is required.
The individual should demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills and be a team player who understands and knows how to leverage internal resources.
The energy and flexibility to travel extensively is required.
