Business Development Representative - Engineering Position description: The Engineering Business Development Representative is accountable to the Area Manager for meeting or exceeding the sales targets for a market. The Engineering BDR will be responsible for managing and developing business in a portfolio of strategic accounts. Business development includes the following: lead identification and qualification, cold calling, setting appointments, creating and developing proposals and pricing models, making presentations, documenting customer agreements (e.g., contract, service agreement), closing sales independently through effective negotiation, documenting sales activities and conducting business reviews. After the account has been sold, the BDR is responsible for partnering with branch staff to ensure effective service delivery. The BDR acts as a business consultant to strategic customers gaining a thorough understanding of the customer's needs/business issues and selecting the appropriate Kelly solution to meet those needs. As such, the BDR must possess a solid working knowledge of the complete range of Kelly's technical service offerings and capabilities in order to effectively cross-sell multiple service lines. BDR must also remain current with competitive trends, staffing/human resource issues and market conditions and their effect on business. Operating within company policy, the BDR exercises discretion and independent judgment in making decisions. The BDR is responsible for building and maintaining mutually beneficial business relationships not only with decision-makers and end users at current and prospective customers, but also with community leaders and representatives from relevant business associations (e.g., networking). Successful business development will result in cost-effective, quality solutions for our customers, a positive work environment and fair pay for out temporary employees, and, most importantly, increase market share and profitability. Business development will occur in numerous verticals. Examples include: Oil Gas, Energy, Aerospace, Engineering services, Medical Device, Manufacturing, Pharma, Telecom, and many more. Desirable qualifications and experience: The successful candidate should possess a bachelor's degree (preferably in a technical field?Human Resources, Business, or Marketing considered as well) or equivalent work experience. The candidate must possess a proven ability to develop business, build relationships, communicate effectively verbally and in writing, and network. In addition, they must demonstrate a strong internal/external customer focus and personal leadership, and solid negotiation and presentation skills. The candidate must collaborate well with all levels of management. Strongly desire candidates that have experience selling contract, contract-to-hire, and direct-hire solutions.
