Business Intelligence Analyst (MIO) Job in Menomonee Falls 53051, Wisconsin US
POSITION OBJECTIVE
Leverage statistical methods and tools to analyze and assess business performance through a compilation of product, customer, sales, and inventory data. Use data mining techniques to interpret business trends and create sales projections to drive forward-thinking business decisions. Support ad hoc information requests from senior management from across the Buying Offices, Product Development, and E-Commerce departments to provide critical tactical and strategic information. Collaborate with team members, key business contacts, and information technology partners to determine best approach for presenting information.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Data Analytics
- Run adhoc reports using Microstrategy 9 and other reporting tools to provide quick turnaround response to business critical questions and convert common adhoc requests into repeatable processes.
- Perform forecasts, regressions, market basket analysis, clustering, and other data mining activities using SAS, Teradata, Microstrategy and other data analytics tools to deliver insightful information to business decision makers.
- Compile analytics results into an easy to understand format consumable by business readers.
- Convert common adhoc requests into repeatable processes.
Communicate Results
- Clearly identify findings from the data analytics result set and clarify assumptions, processes, procedures used to determine the conclusions.
- Ability to logically and clearly communicate complex analyses at the appropriate level to a diverse audience, including senior management as the main consumers of the analytics results.
Support Internal Inquiries
- Answer business user questions about existing analytics as they are conveyed through email, phone, meetings, or other interactions. Research and correct any analytics issues.
- Work with IT partners to ensure acceptable performance and availability of data. Research and provide recommendations to MIO reporters and IT on slow performing reports and dashboards.
Acquire Analytical Data
- Work with IT to determine appropriate data sources to support business needs. Work through the process to move into the enterprise data warehouse where appropriate. Act as the liaison between Report Developers and IT on requests for new data.
- Partner with other data analysts in the company to share available information for data analytics. Mentor team members in understanding and fully leveraging the available data for reporting.
- Lead the effort to establish proper documentation and process for data stewardship and data sharing.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Proficient in Microstrategy 9 Development, including Grid Reports, Documents, Dashboards, Data Visualizations, Data Mining Modules.
- Proficient in SQL, Teradata, Excel, Access, and various data mining tools and relational database systems.
- Experience working with large datasets/analytical datamarts.
- Base knowledge of statistical analysis and modeling, preferably including areas of forecasting, regression analysis, conjoint analysis, and sales and inventory data analytics.
- Understanding of database design and ability to interpret logical and physical data models.
- Ability to logically communicate complex analyses to a diverse audience. Solid written communication skills.
Preferred
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or Business with experience with reporting tools.
- Understanding of SAS programming and SAS data mining techniques.
- Fluency in statistical software such as SAS, SPSS, or R.
- Experience developing reports and dashboard for the retail industry preferred.
