Business Intelligence Analyst
The Trading segment within the Financial Risk business serves the financial community by allowing market participants to connect, access rich content and trade in a secure environment. Trading provides customers a combination of the Thomson Reuters Eikon desktop, the Thomson Reuters Elektron network, content integration and management technology, content feeds and databases and transactions infrastructure. This combination of solutions supports the trading activities of buy-side and sell-side customers in foreign exchange (FX), fixed income and derivatives, equities and other exchange-traded instruments, and in the commodities and energy markets.
Our content and technology enable firms to efficiently obtain real-time and non-real-time content to make business and trading decisions and meet regulatory requirements. Our solutions enable users to develop and execute trading strategies quickly, efficiently and securely and provide a combination of deep, global cross-asset news and content combined with sophisticated pre-trade decision-making, communication and trade-connectivity tools. In 2011, our Trading business continued to roll out, enhance and develop our flagship information.
The Business Intelligence Analyst will provide critical and actionable community analytics to the Collaboration services unit and to the wider Financial and Risk business. This role applies data mining algorithms, writes queries, and designs reports providing the analytical support to for both strategy development and community building tactics.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Perform data analysis and mining activities for Thomson Reuters Collaboration services:
- analytics requirements gathering
- design and development of analytic data sets and reports
- data extract from a diversity of sources including relational databases and flat-file sources
- presentation of analytic results
- documentation of all activities
- Work with Collaboration services stakeholders to develop analytics/report requirements and potential uses
- Develop and execute advanced queries, selects and usage reports
- Provide support for ad hoc analytical projects, including customer-level analysis, segmentation analysis and customer profiling analysis.

Skills
- BS, BA or equivalent in Computer Science, math or related field required
- MBA or MS in Statistics, Math or related fields a plus
- At least 1-2 years of marketing analytic and/or related experience
- Business intelligence and data modeling in Analysis Services (SSAS) and automating reports in Reporting Services (SSRS)
- SQL Server, database, and data integration extraction experience (ETL/SSIS)
- Strong understanding of collaboration technologies and their use in financial communities, including: instant messaging, mobile and professional networks
- Understanding of next generation social media tools and engagement analytics a plus (e.g. Twitter, Facebook)
- Strong communication skills to interface with business stakeholders and defining intelligence requirements.
- Excellent project management skills and ability to manage multiple, time-sensitive projects with competing demands for resources.
