Responsible for planning, reviewing, testing and validation of BI/Data Warehouse and management systems.  This position participates in design, development and implementation of reporting and data governance processes. Works closely with BI and ETL development teams to ensure data integrity and continuous product improvement.  Responsibilities include interaction with developers and end users to develop and execute test strategies for BI testing of highly complex, high volume, data warehousing initiatives utilizing Microstrategy.  Ability to design and code tests and test harnesses utilizing complex SQL program and scripting for testing of reporting and end-user data access.  Responsible for technical architecture and optimization/performance testing using SQL backend services running on high-availability Microsoft infrastructure.  Middleware includes Java/J2EE, .NET, Struts, Hibernate and Spring.  Performs testing associated with changes impacting metadata, data reconciliation and data quality.  The Business Intelligence Quality Assurance Analyst must be able to work independently in most phases of database analysis. 

 

·         Develops, publishes, and implements test plans. Writes, maintains, and executes manual and automated test cases/scripts in ALM. Develops, implements, and supports quality assurance standards. Defines and tracks quality assurance metrics such as defect densities and open defect counts. Uses SQA (Software Quality Assurance) methodologies, techniques and tools.  Validates test data and results by developing appropriate queries and utilities.  Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned.

·         Develop, write and execute test plans and scripts for identifying and tracking defects and fixes in product development, software application development, information systems, and operations systems.

·         Direct and support the implementation and ongoing use of test tools and data collection tools.

·         Prepares project test reports and metrics as necessary.

·         Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective, trusting relationships with department directors, managers, administrators, vendors and others.

 

·         Demonstrates fiscal responsibility with all Company assets.

 

Education: 

·         Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or technical area, or the equivalent combination of education and experience

 

Experience:

·         Experience developing BI testing strategy and approaches, including means of reconciling with source data.

·         Three plus (2+) years BI testing in a MicroStrategy environment

·         Four plus (4+) years minimum testing experience, with proficiency in XML and SQL (including writing queries for complex joins and unions) in a SQL Server Environment

·         Understanding of data rollups/aggregation, capacity planning, data standardization, slowly changing dimensions and data security

·         Conceptual knowledge of data warehouse architectures, ETL architectures and BI UI architectures.

·         Level 3:  6+ years of High Volume Web Services (High Traffic/High Transaction), Windows environment, Java/J2EE, MS SQL, Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), DataStage ETL

·         •       All Levels:  Substantial projects in Java or .NET

·         Two plus (2+) of Visual Basic (Vb) scripting preferred

·         Three plus (3+) years of recent experience as a QA/SQA analyst/engineer in software quality assurance testing

·         Three plus (3+) years experience in designing, developing, executing and documenting results of manual and automated test cases

·         Three plus (3+) years experience in planning, developing, and implementing automation frameworks.

·         Load and performance test plan and test case development preferred

·         Three plus (3+) years experience with the use of Quality Assurance tools for test planning, test case development, defect tracking and automation

·         Restaurant or retail systems experience preferred

·         JDE Enterprise-One ERP system knowledge and/or testing experience preferred

·         Formal training and experience with enterprise testing tools including automated execution and performance tools

·         Formal training in Quality Management methodologies and techniques

 

Professional Certification:  (Certificate requirement appropriate to position)

·          Preference given to: Certified International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB); Certified Associate in Software Quality (CASQ); Certified Associate in Software Testing (CAST); Certified Software Business Analyst (CSBA); Certified Software Process Engineer (CSPE); Certified Quantitative Software Process Engineer (CQSPE)
