Business Process Improvement Consultant for leading Oil and Gas Major

My client is a leading Oil and Gas Major and world renowned company who are looking to recruit an experienced Energy Consultant in the area of Business Improvement to take ownership of end to end coordination and delivery of process improvements.

The scope of this role is Division-wide and therefore requires the incumbent to develop a strong understanding of all the division’s activities including includes acquisition and retention, customer service, account maintenance, energy services, hedging and pricing, marketing and metering activities.

Another key feature of the Division is the current significant influence of Government regulation on residential energy supply. This creates a whole host of additional risks for the business, such as the need to monitor compliance for a wide range of regulatory areas.

The main responsibilities of the role are to:

• Manage a varied portfolio of complex work ranging from strategic review of key customer processes to project management of operational process improvements required to support regulatory changes from the Business Improvement pipeline of work.

• Manage projects and initiatives from initial concept through to review and final handover to business as usual, providing all necessary support and guidance to ensure business acceptance, familiarity and fit.

• Develop a deep understanding of key processes and ensure that the team becomes a focal point for business improvement

• Build strong relationships, creating a seamless interface between the Business Improvement team, business operations and key support functions.

• Keep abreast of current strategic thinking and ensuring business improvements are aligned with this.

• Support the work of the Manager of Business Improvement in the development of ideas to encourage innovation, with particular focus on our customer-facing employees.

• Contribute to the on-going development of the wider Business Improvement team by sharing best practice, providing ad-hoc support and showing commitment to a programme of project ‘shadowing’.

 

The ideal candidate will have:

• Extensive experience of managing internal relationships, providing both support and challenge whilst demonstrating a high degree of credibility, empathy, diplomacy and trust to create a ‘one team’ culture

• Knowledge of a regulatory environment and the workings of the energy and retail industry

• Knowledge and understanding of business improvement and project methodologies e.g. Lean, Six Sigma, Prince2

• Experience of developing high quality materials and presenting to large multi-disciplinary audiences; presenting to Executive teams

• An education to degree standard or demonstration of ability to the same level, delivered in a working environment.

Technical and Commercial Knowledge and Skills

• A ‘people-person’ who enjoys working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, with the ability to influence and lead in the design and delivery of successful business improvement programmes

• Ability to effectively manage a complex and diverse range of activities with regular and tight deadlines

• Ability to translate complex information in to layman’s terms – avoids ‘project speak’ and can immerse themselves in to the internal customer team

• Commercial acumen with experience of delivering complex, large-scale, successful business improvements within a customer-focussed environment

• Ability to ‘think outside the box’, challenge the way things are done and look at ways to optimise business improvements

• Ability to see the bigger picture and review ways of working at an organisational level, encouraging internal Directorates to do the same

• Proven background and keen interest in improving operational, customer-focussed ways of working and real delivery of business benefit

• First class communication skills and experience of facilitating, negotiating and influencing at all levels.

• Strongly customer-focused and action-orientated.

• Ability to draw on a large and diverse range of information sources to keep abreast of the latest developments both internally and externally – knows how and from where to obtain information.
