Global Risk is a thriving and expert risk management function supporting HSBC globally with all aspects of risk management. The team actively manages a varied and dynamic range of risk types, including security, fraud, information security, operational, credit, pension, insurance, compliance, regulatory, market, reputation and geopolitical risks. All parts of the Global Risk team use their skills, insight and integrity to handle established threats and those they see emerging, acting to protect and enable HSBC to deliver sustainable growth.
We are currently seeking an ambitious individual to join the Australian Collections team in the role of Business Risk and Control Manager (BRCM). The incumbent will be responsible for the implementation and ongoing management of the risk and control strategy for the Australian Retail Collections function, as guided by the Global/Regional function and policy. The role will report to the Manager, Back Office Recovery
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring the consistent and effective implementation and performance of operational risk and control assurance of the 1st line of defence for Global Risk within Australia
- Promote, communicate, and where appropriate, provide training in relation to the 1st line of defence
- Review, identify and track efficiencies of existing controls
- Conduct control assurance testing on behalf of the Risk functional management team
- Product periodic reports for management highlighting the adequacy of the internal control environment, including incident reporting and MI reporting including key indicators
- Monitor operational controls based on risk assessments to ensure that the Group's Operational Risk Management Framework is met and fully adhered to
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with the 2nd and 3rd line of defence functions, ensuring effective stakeholder engagement and management
Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Relevant Tertiary qualifications
- Minimum 3-5 years in banking including a solid undertstanding of Collections
- Strong understanding of compliance and operational requirements with proven experience in driving Operational Risk within the 1st line of defence
- Extensive knowledge of Operational Risk and experience in implementing control frameworks
- The ability to engage with and influence senior stakeholders across a global business
- Highly developed oral and written communication skills, including the ability to write and edit policies and procedures.
- Proven history of successfully identifying business risk and implementing remedial procedures.
- Adaptable to change without compromising attention to detail.
