My client is a leading global investment bank currently looking for a risk director to join their expanding wealth management division
The role will act as the 2IC to the executive director and will be embedded into the wealth division advising all key business stakeholders from a value add perspective
Ideal candidate
- CA/CPA qualified
- Big 4 background preferred, but not essential
- Financial Service experience, ideally wealth management
- 7-10 years experience
- Product knowledge e.g. equities, fixed Income, derivatives, multicurrency, wealth planning
- Proven leaderships skills
- Proven stakeholder management and influencing capability
- Commercial acumen
Key responsibilities
- Business Risk Management is a specialist role primarily responsible for establishing appropriate risk controls, continually assessing the adequacy of those controls, screening potential risk issues, escalation of risk issues, cross-functional coordination of activities to address issues, sign-off of exceptions requiring risk approval and appropriate management reporting to support supervisory activities
- Working closely with front office functions to optimise front office processes and minimise risk, the role requires front-to-back coordination and interaction.
- The role is both a control and a management function and consequently requires an ability to work at the detailed 'hands-on' level but to retain a strategic perspective to understand the 'bigger picture' in order to focus and meet objectives.
- Act as a 2IC to the Head of Business Risk Management
- Provide a bridge between strategic BRM change and practical implementation
- Represent Business Risk at relevant senior management committees when called for
- Establishing, monitoring and maintaining the risk framework for the products and services Identify and evaluate operational risks to the business
- Support the design and implementation of projects that require input from a risk and control perspective
- Review product specific account opening requests against applicable suitability policies
- Oversight of suitability monitoring and reporting
- Constructively work with client advisor supervisors to identify and reduce risks to the business
- Co-ordinate the front office control plan, ORI certification process and KRI reporting
- Management and coordination of risk exceptions
