Buyer Job in Poole BH17 9AJ, South West UK

My client, a global leading engineering company based near Poole is looking to recruit an experienced buyer.

Key Functional Responsibilities:

 

·         Place orders with suppliers in line with the company purchasing policy and procedures to achieve the material requirements of the company plan.

·         Co ordinate with the Projects and Operations Teams to achieve the supply chain targets according to the company plan

·         Co ordinate with other departments as necessary to forecast, plan and supply demand to relevant specification, budget, schedule and quality standards.

·         Train and support new joiners to the Procurement Department when required

·         Place orders on and manage sub-contract work to service providers of machining, fabrication carbon SS, painting finishing according to schedule agreed with operations and project teams

·         Manage the scheduling and booking UK transport of all materials and services

·         Assist and support the Senior Buyer in the procurement of project main materials

·         Train in aspects of other procurement roles to support absence and overload when required

·         Check material delivery certification on supplier docs and allocate Alpha Codes to ensure full compliance to our material traceability procedures

·         Fulfill Procurement Department CI iniatives

the Procurement Department improvement plans involving quality and reliability improvements, cost reduction and delivery optimisation

  • Achieve the company delivery plan
  • Implement initiatives concerning Procurement and company financial controls to deliver best practice and 100% data accuracy
  • Timely progress acquiring skills and knowledge through the Procurement Department Training Matrix

    Person Specification

    ·         Experience of  procurement and manufacturing best practice is essential

    ·         Experience of metal forming/cutting/fabrication companies would be highly desirable. 

    ·         Ability to read drawings and specifications is essential.

    ·         Good communication skills.

    ·         Ability to multi-task.

    ·         Understand needs for timeliness and compliance with specification requirements. 

    ·         Good knowledge of Word and Excel

    ·         Team worker who is able to collaborate with colleagues to achieve the company objectives

    ·         Understand needs for timeliness and compliance with specification requirements.
