Job Responsibilities: (include the following. Other duties may be assigned)
- Develop and manage supplier relationships and commodity strategies to assure high quality, cost effective and timely supply of required materials and services by effectively monitoring supplier performance, negotiating robust contracts and using the business enterprise management system (SAP).
- Manage assigned suppliers, commodities and product categories to ensure the business receives material, parts, assemblies and finished goods and services that meet quality requirements, technical specifications, low cost objectives and delivery expectations.
- Support sourcing and procurement needs driven by new product development programs and sustaining engineering / marketing changes to ensure timely and cost effective implementation that meet established effectivity throughout the supply chain.
- Conduct risk assessments of critical / complex supply chain and related supply chain elements. Develop and implement appropriate commodity strategies for sustaining company’s short/long-term plans and operational excellence, including identifying, evaluating and developing alternative sources to improve quality, costs and/or delivery.
- Monitor and report on inventory turnover and shrinkage (ie, breakage, yields, product obsolescence) and develop ways optimize inventory, minimize cost while maintaining flexibility in the supply chain.
- Establish metrics and maintain records pertaining to purchased materials and services to control cost, purchased part variance, quality, delivery, logistics and inventory.
- Communicate and coordinate sourcing strategies with Production Planning, Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, Sales Marketing and Finance functions to ensure efficient and effective implementation.
- Develop and maintain in-house knowledge of global purchasing markets, current players and trends.

- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business Administration, Material Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related scientific/ technical field.
- 1-3 years experience in industrial purchasing. Pharmaceutical or bioscience industry is a plus. Experience handling strategic sourcing and negotiation of complex business issues and risk assessments is a plus.
- Strong background knowledge of supply base for chemicals, filters and tubing used in pharmaceuticals / biologics / nutraceuticals industry preferred.
- Strong analytical skills and spreadsheets including cost modeling.
- Ability to read and understand specification sheets, drawings, regulations (cGMP, QS, ISO).
- Expertise in material flow process knowledge (lead time, transit times, 2 tier supply, etc.) and cost drivers.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, resolve problems, meet deadlines, and handle fast paced critical work environment.
- Self starter, with strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to analyze detail and perform structured decision-making on a daily basis.
- Must be capable of multi-tasking with the ability to work well with others in a TEAM environment.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to interact with personnel at all levels.
- Sound knowledge of MS Office, particularly Word and Excel, ERP/MRP systems for planning and purchasing (SAP experience highly desirable).
- APICS or CPM certification desirable.
- Spanish and/or Japanese language skills a plus.
- Willing to travel domestically and internationally up to 20%.
