My client is a leading global hedge fund focusing (Amongst other areas) on commodities. As a result of stron business performance to date they are currently expanding their London office and require an addition developer to add value to the existing team.
The succesful applicant will develop custom and enrich off-the-shelf applications for my client' commodities business. You will work closely with senior managers within middle office and risk and on workflow automation solutions concerning portfolio management, operations, and trading. The candidate should demonstrate strong technical skills and a desire to learn the financial aspects and business processes of our firm. They must have experience working in teams to deliver systems that are under tight timelines.
Job Description:
* Candidate will work with business areas to design, build and deploy custom applications and enrich off-the-shelf applications as required
* Provide technical solutions through development to automate processes or functions to improve business operations
* Develop corresponding operations and support procedures for application support
* Design and develop scripts to automate operational tasks and maintenance
* Administer and enforce IT development standards and processes
* Provide support during scheduled contingency tests and upgrades
* Assist with the installation of patches and updates, determine impact on applications
* Work directly with end users support staff on issues
Required Skills:
* Good understanding of application design
* Good understanding of middleware and database interactions and connectivity
* Team player with excellent consultative and communication skills, and the proven ability to work effectively with management and staff, vendors and consultants
* Ability to work independently to meet goals and objectives with minimal supervision
* Strong problem solving and time management skills
* Ability to continually sort assignments, manage conflicting priorities and accept changing deadlines
* Ability to work well under pressure, responding to critical requests calmly and efficiently
* Exceptional interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to form and maintain effective working relationships at all levels and across reporting lines;
* Discretion in handling confidential or sensitive information
Preferred Skills:
* 3-6 years of software development experience using Microsoft technologies
* Knowledge and proven experience with .NET Framework (2.0-4.0), C#, XML, XSLT
* Demonstrable skill in developing with .NET WinForms ASP.NET
* Knowledge of RDBMS design development; optimization is a plus
* Good understanding of object-oriented design principles and design patterns
* Desire to learn financial and transaction-based systems
* Familiarity with Misys Sophis Value and Fidessa
* Knowledge of FIX and market connectivity adapters
* VBA within Excel
* Understanding of Oracle PL/SQL, SQL Server T-SQL
Education/Certification:
* Bachelor's degree in computer science or IT related field or equivalent work experience
